Half a semester has gone, I have started to enjoy college life. But for the time period, I have been suffering more from travelling back home with KTM. The magnitude of suffering is greater than that of enjoying. In a nutshell, I'm pissed.
I wonder how do they operate this company? In Economics, the goal of firms are assumed to be maximizing their profit. Well in this case, yeah I agree with it 100%. They are trying to maximize their profit without taking the consumers' feelings into consideration. Taking the Pelabuhan Klang-Sentul route as example, there isn't any close substitutes like LRT to KTM. There are buses, but that would be a little bit troublesome. Anyway, that is not my main concern as this posts wasn't meant to criticize much about KTM, but the passengers.
I always observe 3 kinds of phenomenon while I was waiting for and riding the train, especially Tuesdays and Thursdays, due to classes of these 2 days end relatively late @ 5pm. By the time I reached there it will always be so damn crowded. And of course, with the so-called "Q-System" implemented by KTMB, passengers will have to listen to broadcasts and then line up on one of the coloured(red, blue, green) lines according to the broadcast. It failed. Why? Well, do you ever think that typical Malaysians will give a damn about this? From my observations this far, a portion of the passengers has colour-blindness(no offence). For example, when we are asked to queue up on the green line, I can always see that there are surely some people that queue up on different coloured lines(excluding late-comers, since the frequency of useful broadcasts is only as high as the frequency of the train). Well, I wouldn't be mad at them, because they have health problem what..I never knew that there are so many people in Malaysia have colour-blindness, I felt sorry for them.
And then there are the "smart" ones, in even larger quantities or just the same as colour-blinded people. Ever heard of the story of "The Emperor's New Clothes" or something similar? These "smart" people are able to see "lines" invisible to the "stupid" ones, e.g. me. So in other words, they just line up where ever they see fit a.k.a. cut queue. I'm sure that annoyed the "stupid" ones that lined up properly on the respective lines.
And when the train finally arrives, some bastards behind will just keep on pushing and pushing...well I shouldn't call them bastards, because I would've become an "induced bastard" in this situation and pushing others in order to prevent me from being completely sandwiched. Even if the train is really full, they will still try to squeeze in no matter what. "Who cares? I pushing ma, you pain not me" might be one of their mentalities, or, they are perverted. A tip for all of you, try to get as inside as possible(nowhere near the doors), the doors are the worst ever place to be near with following the above situation given.
There are those so-called polices and a few KTMB personnels supervising the passengers' movement, i.e. call boarding passenger to let disembarking passengers out first. But most of the time they just call passengers to pack up the train until the maximum point. What's the point man? I was expecting that their presence was to prevent queue-cutters.
Little do I know that if the company set up those stacking steel queue bars(I don't know how to describe it lol, imagine those bars that you line up with when you're in a theme park) instead of employing this "Q-System", everything would have been more organized. Anyone seconded on this?
Anyway, I'm most probably going to drive to ICSJ as soon as I got familiar on the way back. So, I can most probably kiss(my @$$, it should be kick) KTM goodbye. But by then, you might see me complaining about traffic jams. Looks like studying there wasn't a nice choice at the first place after all.
